Boris Yeltsin

　　Born the son of Russian peasants, Boris Yeltsin went on to engineer the final collapse of the Soviet Union and become the country's first popularly elected president. The former leader died on April 23, 2007, at the age of 76.

　　出生于俄罗斯普通农户家庭的鲍里斯·叶利钦成了俄罗斯历史上第一位总统。俄罗斯克里姆林宫发言人23日说，俄前总统叶利钦于当天逝世，享年76岁。

　　1、和妻子娜娅·吉列娜拍这张合影时的叶利钦年仅27岁。叶利钦夫妇在大学里相识，并于1956年结婚，育有两个女儿叶琳娜和塔季扬娜。

2、Called a Communist maverick, Yeltsin holds a newspaper put out by an Inter-Regional Group of Soviet lawmakers in July 1989. Earlier that year Yeltsin had pulled 90 percent of the citywide vote to join the Congress of People's Deputies.
